Eat Trash. Be Free.
A downloadable setting
Welcome friends, to Smalltown!
It’s a confusing name, I know. No one's really sure why the founders called it that. For six hundred generations, fieldmouse generations—fieldmouse generations, that is—this town has stood here. It started out small, then after the county opened up the area to fracking, all these Humans came into town.
It’s the same story all across the planet. A community of animals is doin’ just fine, then those big hairless punks come into town, acting all high and mighty because they figured out fire first. Pushing out all us hardworking Critters, losing homes to modern development, and destroying local foraging spots by creating massive temples to food and merchandise.
So we’re takin’ matters into our own hands. We’re forming coalitions of Critters to go out and get Grub for our young’ins and old folks. Some Critters ain’t too apt to help others but you’re not like those, right? Well even if y’are you’ll still be useful.
Well go on, now! You got some work to do before you’re
ready to get your Grubby mitts on that sweet, smelly Grub!
Details
Think of Eat Trash. Be Free. as a setting or expansion to Blades in the Dark. The activities your players will be getting up to are pretty similar to BitD. Your players will be running a Faction, going on scores, competing with rival gangs, and doing all the skullduggery you do in BitD. In addition to thematic and setting changes, there are a few different rules from BitD and those will be explained on the next page and in the Critter Handout. Overall you will still be playing BitD but in a different setting and with different motivations.
Eat Trash. Be Free. is an unofficial work for Blades in the Dark by Monday (Dave) Cox. Blades in the Dark was written by John Harper and published by Evil Hat. They own the rights to Blades in the Dark and all of its associated names and setting. I make no claim to any of Blades in the Dark. You should already own Blades in the Dark before you play Eat Trash. Be Free. If you don’t have a copy of Blades in the Dark you should grab it here.
What you need to play
- A copy of Blades in the Dark (BitD).
- This little zine you are currently reading.
- The Critter Handout.
